Car Rental Corfu is a booking intermediary that connects travellers with local vehicle suppliers operating on the island. We do not own vehicles, we do not operate rental desks, and we do not employ drivers. Our role is to present offers from multiple suppliers in a single search result, allowing you to compare terms, coverage options and vehicle categories before making a booking.
The rental agreement is concluded directly between you and the supplier. We facilitate the reservation and collect an advance payment online, but the supplier issues the contract, hands over the keys, and manages the vehicle throughout your rental period. The balance is settled with the supplier at the time of pick-up or return, depending on the terms stated in your booking voucher.
This model allows us to offer a wider selection than any single operator could provide on their own. At the same time, it means we are transparent about the distinction between our service and the supplier's responsibilities. When you contact us with a question about vehicle condition, coverage details or pick-up logistics, we relay the query to the relevant supplier and return their answer to you.
The platform was built to address a recurring problem: travellers arriving on the island often faced fragmented information, inconsistent pricing, and a lack of clarity about what was included in each offer. Comparing suppliers required visiting multiple websites, each with different booking flows and terminology. Deposits were described in varying ways, coverage was bundled or unbundled without explanation, and the total cost was rarely clear until the final step.
We set out to create a single point of comparison where terms are presented in a consistent format. Every offer states the deposit amount, the excess liability, the fuel policy, the mileage allowance and the cancellation terms before you confirm. This does not eliminate the complexity of vehicle rental, but it does make the decision process more straightforward.
The focus on Corfu is deliberate. A small geographic scope allows us to maintain direct relationships with suppliers, visit their offices, and verify that the vehicles and terms listed on the platform match what is available on the ground. We do not expand to other islands or mainland regions because doing so would dilute the quality of supplier oversight.
Suppliers are evaluated on operational criteria before their offers appear on the platform. We look at the age and condition of the fleet, the transparency of their contract terms, the clarity of their damage assessment process, and the consistency of their customer communication. A supplier with modern vehicles but opaque billing practices will not be added. A supplier with older vehicles but clear terms and responsive support may be included if their offer meets a specific need.
We visit supplier locations, review sample contracts, and ask detailed questions about how they handle common scenarios: a scratch discovered at return, a breakdown on a mountain road, a flight delay that pushes pick-up past closing time. The answers to these questions determine whether the supplier is added to the platform.
Once a supplier is active, we monitor booking feedback and traveller reports. Repeated issues with vehicle condition, unexpected charges, or poor communication lead to a review of the supplier's status. In some cases, we request changes to their process. In others, we remove them from the platform. The goal is not to have the largest number of suppliers, but to have suppliers whose offers we can present with confidence.
An intermediary does not own the vehicles you see listed. An operator does. An intermediary does not issue the rental contract. An operator does. An intermediary does not hold the keys or manage the vehicle during your rental. An operator does. These distinctions matter because they define who is responsible for what.
When you book through an intermediary, you are entering into two separate relationships: one with the intermediary for the reservation and advance payment, and one with the supplier for the rental itself. The supplier is responsible for the condition of the vehicle, the terms of the contract, the damage assessment at return, and any charges applied during or after the rental period. The intermediary is responsible for presenting accurate information about the offer, processing your booking, and facilitating communication between you and the supplier if an issue arises.
This structure has advantages and limitations. The advantage is breadth: you can compare multiple suppliers without visiting multiple websites. The limitation is that the intermediary cannot override the supplier's decisions about damage charges, late return fees, or contract terms. We can advocate on your behalf, and we do, but the final authority rests with the supplier who issued the contract.
Understanding this distinction helps set realistic expectations. If you need to modify a booking, extend a rental, or dispute a charge, the supplier must be involved in the resolution. We act as a conduit and, where appropriate, as an advocate, but we cannot unilaterally reverse a supplier's decision. Transparency about this boundary is part of how we work.
The platform serves the island of Corfu exclusively. This includes both pick-up points: the airport terminal and the port area. Suppliers deliver vehicles to hotels and resorts across the island, from Sidari in the north to Kavos in the south, and from Paleokastritsa on the west coast to Kassiopi on the east. The narrow scope allows us to maintain detailed knowledge of supplier operations, road conditions, and common traveller needs specific to the island.
We do not offer bookings for other Ionian islands, mainland Greece, or international destinations. Expanding beyond Corfu would require either reducing the depth of supplier oversight or building a much larger operational team. We have chosen to prioritize depth over breadth. If you are travelling to multiple Greek islands, you will need to arrange separate bookings for each location.
This focus also informs the type of vehicles and terms we prioritize. The island's mountain roads, narrow village streets, and unsurfaced tracks to beaches like Porto Timoni mean that compact vehicles with good ground clearance are often more practical than larger sedans or SUVs. Suppliers who understand these conditions and stock their fleets accordingly are the ones we work with most closely.
